New Orleans Saints Adding New Athletes To Enhance Gameday Experience, Fan Inclusion

The New Orleans Saints are looking to enhance the gameday experience when welcoming back fans to the Superdome next season. Not only is the team in the middle of remodeling to add more technology and safety features to go along with the new field-level luxury suites, but they are also in the process of adding more entertainment options to the gameday experience. The Saints are the main attraction but during breaks in play and pregame fan engagement events, New Orleans will have a chance to appreciate a different kind of athlete.

The New Orleans Saints will be holding auditions for their 2021 entertainment teams which will perform in Champions Square before kickoffs before heading to the field and even joining the fans in the stands. The addition of these coed teams of dancers, tumblers, and stunt performers will help the Saintsations “to create the NFL’s best entertainment experience” according to the release.

The audition form explains the Saints are “looking for diverse talent to join the Saintsations, the official dance team of the New Orleans Saints as well as the Black & Gold Patrol, the official fan engagement team of the New Orleans Saints. In addition, we are casting for a new team of multi-talented entertainers to further enhance our fan experience. During auditions (and throughout the year) there will be interaction and collaboration between these three groups, to help ensure the Saints deliver a cohesive experience to our fans.”

New Orleans Saints President Dennis Lauscha said the decision to add more auxiliary entertainment, “Our fans are eager to get back into the Mercedes-Benz Superdome and we want every facet of the game experience to be ready for them. We’re always thinking of new ways that we can provide the best game day experience in the NFL. Expanding our entertainment teams to include cheerleaders and tumblers will bring even more energy and excitement to game day, and add to our legendary Dome Field Advantage.”

The goal is to have the various entertainment teams increase fan engagement on gameday while serving as aspirational community ambassadors. The teams will feature in live performances and assist with in-game promotions on gameday while also being available for corporate appearances and community events throughout the year. The team is looking for “originality and diversity” with no formal training required to audition as the team seeks to be inclusive of all backgrounds and abilities. The only requirement is to be 18 years of age and registered by June 17 for the June 18 audition to be held in the Smoothie King Center.

Though the Superdome and Saints will look far different this year, the announcement of this inclusive, engaging move by the Saints adds to the anticipation for the coming season. The finalist for the new coed entertainment teams will have a Finalist Mini Camp schedule for the last audition on June 26. They will then have a few weeks to prepare for the opening of training camp and the first game of the season against the Green Bay Packers.
