Orange Amps, a UK-based guitar amplifier brand, has launched two Bluetooth speakers called the Box and Box-L. The speakers echo the design of Orange Amps’ guitar amplifier and speaker series, complete with the same colors, logo, and control panel style. The Box is a battery-powered portable model, while the Box-L is a wired option intended for indoor use. The speakers are priced at $300-$350, with specs that hint at decent stereo sound and Bluetooth 5.0 support. The Class D amp powers the subwoofer, while Class AB analog amps drive the full-range drivers to produce a warmer sound. The standalone devices’ sizes differ, with the slightly smaller Box measuring 11 x 6.9 x 6.7 inches and weighing 6.6 pounds, and the wired Box-L measuring 13.8 x 7.9 x 7.9 inches and weighing 9.6 pounds.
For $299, the Box’s specs list a 4-inch subwoofer powered by a 30W Class D amp, dual 10W Class AB analog amplifiers that power the two 2-inch full-range drivers to produce an evocative sound and a 15-hour or longer runtime with a three-hour charging time until it’s fully charged. On the other hand, Box-L has no onboard battery, weighs 9.6 pounds, has a 50W RMS output, and a frequency range of 35Hz – 20kHz. Both speakers offer aptX for high-quality sound, alongside AAC and SBC.
At the top of both speakers, there’s an identical control panel with knobs and switches resembling the brand’s guitar amps. The control section includes a power switch, battery light, bass, treble, and volume knobs, a 3.5mm aux input, and a Bluetooth pairing button that doubles as a Play/Pause button.
The speakers support the right to repair and will offer replacement parts in case a user breaks them. Users can purchase the speakers on Orange Amps’ website and Amazon worldwide, except for Australia, which can still place orders on Amazon or through Orange Amp’s Australian distributor, the Australis Music Group.
