What is Quordle?
Quordle is a five-letter word guessing game that resembles Wordle. However, each guess applies four letters to four words, not just one word. You’re given nine guesses to correctly guess all four words, instead of the usual six guesses. Essentially, you’re playing four Wordle games simultaneously, but don’t worry, it’s not as intimidating as it seems.
Is Quordle harder than Wordle?
Yes, it is slightly more challenging, but not excessively so.
Where did Quordle come from?
Freddie Meyer created Quordle on January 30, 2022, inspired by Dordle, one of the first significant variations of Wordle, where you play two Wordles at the same time. In a matter of days, The Guardian covered Meyer’s creation, and Quordle now boasts millions of daily users. Meyer also earns modest revenue from Patreon, where Quordle fans can donate to support their favorite puzzle game.
How is Quordle pronounced?
“Kwordle” rhymes with “Wordle,” and it’s definitely not pronounced like “curdle.”
Is Quordle strategy different from Wordle?
Yes and no. Your initial approach should be the same as with Wordle. If you have a favorite opening word in Wordle, there’s no reason to change it in Quordle. We recommend an opening word rich in vowels, featuring common letters such as C, R, and N, but it’s ultimately up to you.
However, after the first guess, things get out of control if you play Quordle like Wordle. The significant difference between the game strategies is that in Quordle, you can’t afford to waste guesses unless you’re eliminating as many letters as possible at all times. In contrast, guessing a random word you know isn’t the solution in Wordle just to eliminate three or four possible letters you haven’t tried yet is seen as a desperate move. In Quordle, however, it’s a standard part of the player’s strategy.
Is there a way to get the answer faster?
Playing Quordle can sometimes be time-consuming, more so than playing Wordle four times. However, a brute-force guessing approach can hasten the process. Try starting with a series of words that puts all the vowels, including Y, on the board, along with other common letters. YouTuber DougMansLand suggests four words: “CANOE,” “SKIRT,” “PLUMB,” and “FUDGY.”
Also, eliminating all but one or two wrong guesses after using this approach will provide you with all the information you need to guess the remaining words.
