For the second time in 2021, NCT Dream rules over the Gaon Albums chart in South Korea as the band collects another leader. The group’s just-released Hello Future, a repackaged deluxe edition of their debut full-length Hot Sauce, opens at No. 1, giving them their sixth champion on the tally. NCT Dream leads a busy top 10, as half of the spots inside the area are occupied by new titles.
The Gaon Albums chart ranks the bestselling full-lengths, EPs and single albums in South Korea every week, looking at how many copies were shipped to stores.
Up one space from where it ranked last week is EXO’s most recent ruler Don’t Fight The Feeling, which steps up to No. 2.
New at No. 3 is Must, the latest album from a boy group named 2PM, one which has been together more than a decade. Throughout their many years as a working band, the act has now appeared between Nos. 1 and 10 with 11 different titles. Must is their first new full-length in five years, and it is fronted by the title track, which narrowly sneaks into the top 40 on the Gaon Digital ranking.
Coming in right behind that debut is another, as beloved girl group LOONA returns to the top 10 on the Gaon Albums chart with the difficult-to-pronounce EP [&]. The set kicks off its time on the tally at No. 4, instantly becoming their ninth top 10 in South Korea.
Former Victon and X1 singer Han Seung-woo collects just his second top 10 title as a solo star with his new EP Fade, which enters the race at No. 5. Including his work with those two bands, she has now scored 10 top 10 releases.
The fifth and final new entrant inside the top 10 on the Gaon Albums chart comes from seven-member all-male vocal group DRIPPIN, whose latest effort Free Pass launches at No. 6. The band’s first single album, it now stands out as the highest-charting of their three releases, all of which have broken into the top 10 (though the other two only rose as high as No. 8).
After running the show last week, Seventeen is forced not only out of the top spot, but outside the top five entirely as their set Your Choice, already one of the bestselling of the year in South Korea, slides to No. 7. Up more than 80 spots to No. 8 is NCT’s NCT Resonance Pt. 2. The band serves as the top act in the NCT franchise, with NCT Dream, who currently run the show, being a sub-unit.
The final two spots inside this week’s Gaon Albums chart’s top 10 are occupied by MAMAMOO’s WAW (No. 9) and BamBam’s riBBon (No. 10).
