For the second time in 2021, Tomorrow X Together debuts a new release atop the Gaon Albums chart, collecting their fifth No. 1 in South Korea in the process. The band’s first repackaging of an older title, called The Chaos Chapter: Fight or Escape, starts off higher than any other title, even though it only features three new songs, while the rest were present on their recent full-length The Chaos Chapter: Freeze.
The Gaon Albums chart ranks the bestselling full-lengths, EPs and single albums in South Korea every week, looking at how many copies were shipped to stores.
Tomorrow X Together’s latest No. 1 is one of five new titles that enter inside the top 10, with the entirety of the top four spots being filled by just-dropped collections.
Coming in right behind Tomorrow X Together is Red Velvet with their latest EP Queendom, which launches at No. 2. The set is their fourteenth top 10 title on the Gaon Albums chart, with all of those projects rising into the top three. The short release is fronted by the title track, which serves as the lead single, and it earns the loftiest debut on the Gaon Digital chart, as well as being the No. 1 bestselling song in the country this frame.
Less than two years into their time together, Cravity hits the top 10 on the Gaon Albums chart for the fourth time, as their first full-length The Awakening: Written in the Stars launches at No. 3. The group, which debuted last year, has thus far shared a trio of EPs, with two going all the way to the summit while their most recent similarly peaked at No. 3.
Rounding out a top four flush with brand new releases comes CIX’s Ok Prologue: Be Ok, which kicks off its time on the tally at No. 4. The group’s first full-length collection is now their fifth to enter the top 10 on the Gaon Albums chart, and it’s the first to not be featured in their highly-successful Hello series.
Down from No. 1 to No. 5 is Thrill-ing by The Boyz. The set debuted in first place last week, bringing the all-male vocal act to the peak position for the second time.
The fifth and final new entrant inside the top 10 on the latest edition of the Gaon Albums chart comes from South Korean indie rock outfit Jannabi. The band’s The Land of Fantasy appears at No. 6, bringing the act to the highest tier for just the third time.
Exo’s Don’t Fight The Feeling leaps more than 50 spaces to settle at No. 7, coming in behind two titles that fall slightly, as Ji-hoon Park’s My Collection and Ha Sung-woon’s Select Shop dip to Nos. 8 and 9, respectively. Closing out the top 10 on this week’s Gaon Albums chart is BTS’s Love Yourself: Tear, which manages to return to the highest arena on the ranking, even though it’s been selling well for several years now.
