The upcoming Xbox Showcase and Starfield Direct will contain no CGI-only trailers for first-party titles, according to Aaron Greenberg, the marketing boss of Xbox Games. Both events are set to be streamed live on June 11 starting at 10 AM PT, and the two-hour showcase will feature in-game footage, in-engine footage, or in-game footage with some cinematics. According to Greenberg, all trailers will be labeled accordingly.
While Greenberg is specifically referring to first-party games, non-first party titles may still show computer-generated trailers. The absence of these types of trailers is welcome since they give players a more realistic look at the game and its overall experience. Ultimately, what matters most is gameplay, and viewers can expect to see plenty of it during both events.
Fable fans are particularly excited to see if it will show up during the Xbox Showcase. Greenberg’s words suggest that gameplay or in-engine footage may be showcased if the medieval RPG appears during the event.
Viewers can watch the Xbox Showcase and Starfield Direct on Twitch or YouTube. The stream starts at 10 AM PT, 1 PM ET, 6 PM BST, and 7 PM CET on June 11.
